For anyone claiming the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), it’s vital that all logs meet Woodsure standards, which ensure consistent quality, low moisture content, and responsible sourcing.

At our site, we process large volumes of hardwood logs specifically for biomass log boilers. The batch shown here represents a typical run: around 60 potato boxes of 18-inch hardwood logs, totalling roughly 50 tonnes of wood to season for the coming years. This level of production ensures HDG boiler users enjoy a reliable, long-term fuel supply.

Efficient Log Processing – From Raw Timber to Ready Fuel

1. Log Selection & Handling
   We begin with clean, unsawn hardwood logs, lifted onto a log table using a front-end loader.
2. Powerful PTO-Driven Processing
   A tractor’s PTO (Power Take-Off) drives a highly efficient cutting and splitting system.
3. Precision Cutting & Splitting
• A 20-tonne pressure log splitter works alongside a precision chainsaw setup.
• Logs are cut to the required 18-inch length and split into boiler-ready pieces.
4. Conveying & Storage
   Once processed, the fresh logs travel up a conveyor belt and are neatly placed into robust potato boxes for storage and long-term seasoning.
